Benjamin Zekavica, Founder of UnleashWP

December 24, 2025 / Agencies / 0 comments

My name is Benjamin Zekavica. I’m 27 years old and the founder of UnleashWP, a brand created under Kreo Pulse, my creative and digital studio. I’ve been active in the WordPress community for more than ten years and currently serve as a WordPress Core Team Rep, contributing directly to the development of WordPress itself.

UnleashWP grew out of my day-to-day work with WordPress. My focus is on helping developers and companies run WordPress in a professional, secure, and scalable way. I combine real project experience, deep technical knowledge, and community involvement, and that mix shapes everything I build, publish, and offer through UnleashWP.

The Journey Began

I started working with the web at a very young age. Around the age of eleven, I became fascinated by animated websites and wanted to understand how they actually worked. I taught myself HTML and CSS through online tutorials and built my first websites from scratch.

When I started working on a small game review website, I quickly realised how inefficient it was to manage everything through static HTML files. That’s when I discovered content management systems. Many of them felt overly complex at the time, but WordPress immediately stood out. It was simple, logical, and powerful at the same time.

I began using WordPress extensively, learned PHP, and started digging into how WordPress works internally. While still in school and later during internships, I worked on real projects. By the time I was around fifteen, I was already working confidently with experienced developers. When I started noticing bugs, I didn’t want to just report them. I wanted to fix them. That’s how I found my way into open source and began actively contributing to WordPress.

The Need for “UnleashWP

UnleashWP

As my experience grew, I noticed a clear pattern in the WordPress ecosystem. Most platforms, products, and tutorials are built for beginners. There is no shortage of entry-level content. But for developers, especially those working on serious projects, there are very few places that truly support them.

Too often, developers are left alone with long documentation, workarounds, and trial-and-error solutions. WordPress projects rarely reach an enterprise-level setup. Instead, they often rely on stacking plugins to compensate for missing structure and architecture.

That’s exactly why I started UnleashWP. I wanted to build a platform that doesn’t just teach theory, but actually helps developers work better. Faster. Cleaner. More professionally.

A core part of UnleashWP is the blog. I regularly share best practices, architectural approaches, and real-world lessons from actual projects. Everything is free and openly accessible. The goal is to save developers time, avoid common mistakes, and provide practical guidance instead of abstract concepts.

UnleashWP also offers hands-on support for companies. I provide clearly defined services with fixed pricing, covering maintenance, security, performance, support, and data protection. The goal is simple: take technical responsibility off internal teams and help businesses run WordPress reliably and long-term.

The first product under UnleashWP is a book. It’s not a traditional book meant to be read once and put aside. It’s a working tool. Alongside the content, it includes a downloadable toolkit with checklists, workflows, and ready-to-use scripts that can be applied directly in real projects. It’s the entry point into a platform built for developers who want practical results. In the future, UnleashWP will expand with its own plugins, themes, scripts, and extensions, always focused on solving real problems instead of adding unnecessary complexity.

Myself with my Brilliant Team

All of this is built under Kreo Pulse, my creative and digital studio. Kreo Pulse is where products, services, and long-term ideas are developed. It brings together client work, product development, and community involvement.

A fixed part of my work is giving back to WordPress itself. I dedicate around ten hours per week from the company to my role as a Core Team Rep. Being close to core development and decision-making flows directly into UnleashWP and all related projects.

Advice for Business Owners

My most important advice is to focus on substance and think long-term. Technical quality, clean structures, and experience always pay off. Especially with WordPress, it’s worth investing early in solid foundations instead of dealing with technical debt later.

It’s equally important not to give up. Setbacks are part of the journey and often where the most valuable lessons come from. Progress takes time.

I also strongly believe in collaboration over competition. Working together, sharing knowledge, and moving forward as a community creates far more value than trying to outdo each other. This mindset is especially powerful in the WordPress ecosystem.

WordPress & Beyond

I see WordPress remaining one of the most important platforms on the web over the next five years. Its strength lies in its openness and its community. The real challenge is using WordPress professionally and managing complexity without compromising quality. That’s exactly where I want to continue contributing through UnleashWP and Kreo Pulse.

My Love for the WordPress Community

The WordPress community is a central part of my journey. I regularly attend WordCamps and meetups, especially in Germany. WordCamp Europe is a must for me every year. Contributor Days have shaped me both professionally and personally, and many strong connections and friendships started there.

How I Keep Myself Updated

I stay up to date through core development discussions, Slack, GitHub, official documentation, and constant exchange with other contributors. Being close to core development helps me understand changes early and apply them in practice.

I Have a Life Other Than Work

Balance is important to me. Travelling and photography help me gain new perspectives and clear my head. I also enjoy spending time alone in my garden, which is the perfect contrast to technical work.

I love cooking and value creative moments away from the screen. Spending time with our dog is also essential for me. Walks and quiet moments help me slow down and recharge.

I Reward Myself by

I reward myself with travel and intentional time for myself. Stepping away from daily routines, discovering new places, and enjoying quiet moments helps me reflect and return to my work with a fresh perspective. These breaks give me the balance I need to stay focused and motivated.

Connect With Me

The best way to reach me is via WordPress Slack, My Website, or LinkedIn. That said, personal conversations matter most to me. If you meet me at a WordCamp or meetup, feel free to say hello. I’m always happy to connect.
