I am Jean-Baptiste Marchand-Arvier (a pretty complicated name right?), people call me JB that’s much easier. I’m the co-founder and CEO of WP Media. Our mission is to help people having faster websites. We have two products so far WP Rocket a caching plugin for WordPress and Imagify, a service to optimize images.

The Journey Began

I’m a long time user of WordPress, I started using WordPress in 2007, it was at this time the version 2 of WP, and we mostly able to do blogs with WordPress at this point. I started with Joomla initially, and I wanted to have a blog on my website so I installed WordPress. It was quite mind-blowing, on how it was easy to create content and how powerful it is.

Since that day I never left WordPress

The Need for WP Rocket

Jonathan (my co-founder) and I were working together and had a good hands-on to web-performance (how to make websites faster) and WordPress.

However, we were not happy with WordPress caching solutions available. They just work but too complicated to configure, even for us.

We wanted to build an easy to use caching solution which should be very efficient with excellent support.

Within no time, we were lucky to have enough customers which allowed us to hire experts around the globe to build an amazing team and product.

Within a few years, WP Rocket became one of the most demanding WordPress caching plugins and hit a milestone of 1 Million active installs.

Besides WP Rocket we now have two more products:

Myself with my Brilliant Team

We are a small team of more than 30 people from all over the world, working remotely since day 1 and I’m proud of my team.

Once a year, we do company retreat. Last year it was in Mexico.

WordPress & Beyond

WordPress has changed a lot since we started WP Rocket a few years ago. We’ve seen a lot of new users with different use cases, and a lot of new competitors.

I’ve also noticed that WordPress and the whole ecosystem is much more professional and I’m proud to be a part of it.

Our plans remain the same, whatever WordPress is becoming: helping WordPress users having faster websites.

So we follow the new web performance solutions, trends and integrate them into WordPress for the best experience possible.

My Love for the WordPress Community

One of the things I really love about WordPress is its community and everything you can find around it. Meetups and WordCamps are a perfect example.

As a company, we have been sponsoring a lot of WordCamps for a long time and encourage our team to contribute as attendees, volunteers, or speakers.

Meetups are the best occasions to meet & greet customers and other WordPressers, learning opportunities, and exchange of knowledge.

How I Keep Myself Updated

I follow WPTavern along with a few more resources, and our internal Slack is full of WordPress news which helps me to stay updated.

I Have a Life Other Than the Work

I do a lot of different activities while I’m not at my desk. Practicing sports is my hobby especially ski, mountain biking, surfing, and car racing, etc.

I also enjoy a lot of traveling, reading books, and gardening.
