Sagar Patel – Founder of POSIMYTH Innovations

April 22, 2025 / Plugins / 0 comments

I was born in a small village called Naroda in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India. My parents didn’t have formal education; they couldn’t finish school because of limited resources and early responsibilities. My father worked as a farmer and milkman, and my mother took care of us while helping on the farm. We belonged to a lower-middle-class family, and although I was a mischievous child, my strong academic performance usually balanced things out.

My parents raised us with discipline and solid values, determined that we wouldn’t face the same hardships they did. They gave us as many resources as possible and taught us the importance of real-life lessons and strong discipline. During my college years, I became immersed in philosophy and self-development. I read a lot of self-help books, Hindu scriptures, and biographies, drawing inspiration from Osho, Buddha, Jim Rohn, Simon Sinek, Brian Tracy, and innovators like Steve Jobs and Bill Gates.

I still remember creating a graphical version of Steve Jobs’s Stanford Commencement speech and sticking it on my desk. While I excelled in school, my college grades dipped slightly because I spent more time exploring the internet and technology. Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, I couldn’t afford a personal computer until my third year. Before that, I relied on the university library or saved money for cybercafé visits.

The Journey Began

In my seventh semester, my friend Rushi Patel and I started freelancing. We’d stay up all night browsing Elance (now Upwork), Freelancer.com, Guru, and other platforms to bid on projects. Our first reply came at 4 AM from someone wanting help with Craigslist listings in the U.S. Though it ended in failure, we were thrilled just to have the opportunity. Soon after, we landed our first successful project publishing an Android app on the Play Store. We barely made $7 in profit, but the sense of accomplishment was priceless.

After graduating in mid-2013, Rushi and I founded INSIGNIA Technolabs, an agency that took on design, development, branding—anything we could handle. Early on, we built websites using HTML and CSS, and we considered various PHP frameworks. Ultimately, we chose WordPress, which wasn’t very mainstream yet, but it allowed us to deliver projects faster and give clients a user-friendly admin panel.

Still, I wanted to create a larger impact by building products rather than just offering services. This shift involved significant risk, and it led my partner and me to part ways amicably, as our visions diverged. On July 20, 2015 coincidentally the same date humans first landed on the moon, I started POSIMYTH Innovations. It felt symbolic to begin a new chapter on such a historic day.

The Need for The Plus Addons for Elementor

Resources were tight at first. We juggled client services to stay afloat financially while developing products on the side. Our initial ventures involved creating small, niche WordPress themes for ThemeForest, such as The Passion (for movies and entertainment) and others for photography. These brought in some income, so we went bigger and spent nearly a year on a multipurpose theme called The Service, featuring 50+ demos. However, after multiple revisions, ThemeForest still rejected it—a disheartening setback.

Because The Service was built using WPBakery (formerly Visual Composer), we decided to convert its widgets into a standalone plugin: The Plus Addons for WPBakery. But we soon realized WPBakery was losing ground to Elementor. Sensing this, we converted the plugin to The Plus Addons for Elementor and released it on CodeCanyon, receiving an enthusiastic response from the Elementor Facebook community. Encouraged by user feedback, we also set up our own store, and our journey took off.

That journey wasn’t always smooth. We experienced a zero-day vulnerability that led to hundreds of infected sites. Our entire team worked around the clock for days to support users, with help from Wordfence and Patchstack. This incident made us double down on security, conducting multiple audits, providing transparent communication, and even personally cleaning over 20 infected sites for some users. In the end, The Plus Addons for Elementor provided the momentum we needed to become a 100% product-based company, and we went on to introduce many first-of-its-kind features in the Elementor ecosystem.

After The Plus Addons for Elementor, we didn’t stop. We ventured into Gutenberg early with The Plus Blocks for Gutenberg, although the editor was still evolving, and our initial structures became outdated. We later rebranded everything into Nexter Suite, which includes:

  1. Nexter Blocks for Gutenberg – Over 100 Gutenberg blocks
  2. Nexter WordPress Theme – A lightweight theme with a free Theme Builder
  3. Nexter Extension – A set of features to reduce the need for multiple plugins

We also developed UiChemy, a Figma-to-WordPress tool supporting Elementor, Bricks, Gutenberg, and more. Another product is WDesignKit, an all-in-one solution for effortless website creation, including a cloud workspace, a widget builder, and over 1,000 website templates with Figma design files. Additionally, we’re working on SproutUi, a collection of 5,000+ Figma UI sections in Auto Layout, with plans to integrate AI.

Our mission is clear: “Making Web Creation Easy.” We continually explore new directions as we learn more about user needs.

Advice for Business Owners

If you’re truly committed and passionate, you can achieve anything. Perseverance will continue to show you ways to move forward. Give 100% effort without becoming overly attached to the outcome, and maintain balance in everything you do. Focus on adding genuine value to people’s lives rather than chasing money alone.

AI-based tools present incredible opportunities right now. Don’t rely solely on external APIs; blend them with your own algorithms and unique problem-solving approaches to stand out.

WordPress & Beyond

We’re on a mission to make “Web Creation Easy for all Web Creators.” We’ll keep innovating and crafting solutions that empower users to build amazing websites smoothly.

The next five years are critical for the entire WordPress ecosystem. Although there’s uncertainty, open-source advocates remain passionate about the platform. Collaboration within the community will be more important than ever, and I believe it will help WordPress grow stronger.

WordPress faces threats particularly from platforms that innovate rapidly, use aggressive marketing, and build robust community ecosystems. Nonetheless, WordPress’s open-source nature and global community support are tremendous strengths.

My Love for the WordPress Community

I’ve been actively involved in the WordPress community for several years, and my first interaction was incredibly positive and welcoming—an experience I can’t imagine in any other ecosystem. As I participated more, I realized WordPress is a shining example of how open-source communities can thrive.

Do you attend WordCamps and WordPress meetups?

Yes! I’ve organized WordCamps twice, once leading the sponsorship department, and I attend monthly meetups. I’ve also sponsored and attended major events like WordCamp Europe and WordCamp Asia. Whether I’m an attendee, sponsor, or organizer, these events are fantastic for learning and networking. While many focus on ROI, I believe financial success is a byproduct of genuinely serving the community.

WordCamps turned many online acquaintances into real-world friends. Some of them include Adi Spiac, Ajit Bohra, Akshat Chaudhry, Alex Panagis, Amit Karen, Amit Singh, Anand Upadhyay, Ankur Chotai, Anne Bovelett, Arif Tukiman, Benjamin Intal, Chetan Prajapati, David McCan, Davinder Singh Kainth, Gautam, Gijo Varghese, Giovanni Cintolo, Ido Navarro, Jagir Bahesh, JinGu Youn, Kandarp Bhatt, Leo Koo, Miriam Schwab, Mukesh Panchal, Nirmal Desai, Parth Pandya, Pratik Chaskar, Rahul Bansal, Rajendra Zore, Rich Tabor, Rino de Boer, Ryan, Sandilya Kafle, Sergiu Radu, Shahjahan (Jewel), Simrandeep Singh, Sujay Pawar, Sumit Singh, Taha Demirhan, Tarun, Verdi Heinz, Vikas Singal, Vova Feldman — and the list goes on!

I’m inspired by all of the above individuals and would love to read the success stories of those who haven’t been featured on WPfounders yet.

How I Keep Myself Updated

I use a combination of YouTube, podcasts, networking events, and a lot of reading. I follow various thought leaders on X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and LinkedIn. Some of my favorite books include Atomic Habits, Autobiography of a Yogi, Be Here Now, Bhagavad Gita, Deep Work, Eat That Frog, Good to Great, Ikigai, Leaders Eat Last, Predictably Irrational, Start with Why, Steal Like an Artist, Steve Jobs (biography), The Alchemist, The Greatest Salesman in the World, The Hard Thing About Hard Things, The Innovator’s Dilemma, The One Minute Manager, Who Moved My Cheese, Zero to One, Zen Mind, Beginner’s Mind.

I Have a Life Other Than Work

When I’m not immersed in WordPress or product development, I love outdoor adventures like hiking, trekking, and long drives. I also enjoy playing cricket, badminton, and watching films, especially those by Christopher Nolan, space fiction, Marvel, Pixar, or historical and geopolitical documentaries. Spending quality time with my wife, child, and parents is a priority.

Traveling to different countries to explore local cultures fascinates me, and I’m always intrigued by space and its endless mysteries. I read philosophy, practice mindfulness and meditation, and recently began studying astrology to understand the science behind it. I’m not much of a party-goer; I prefer meaningful conversations with close friends or quiet self-reflection during my spare time.

I Reward Myself by

I’m the one who keeps thinking what’s next, so I sometimes forget to celebrate small milestones. When I do reward myself, it’s usually through experiences rather than material possessions. In business, if we achieve success, I like to share it first with my core team—whether through financial rewards or other benefits—because they’re integral to every accomplishment.

sagar with his family

I’m a tech gadget enthusiast who’s always on the lookout for the latest devices. I also love sharing my achievements with family and friends—discussing how we reached our goals and how we can improve next time. I’ve long been passionate about environmental, renewable energy, educational, and health-related causes.

During my university days, we organized multiple blood donation drives that collected thousands of units of blood, which were provided free of charge to those in need. Now, for every sale, we plant a tree, hand out seed pens at WordCamps, and gift plants to our team on special occasions. Our home runs on solar energy, and we plan to implement the same setup at our office in the future. These small acts of giving back are the most fulfilling rewards.
